A crown, otherwise know as a cap, is a type of dental treatment that covers the entire outer surface of a tooth, from the gum up.

What are crowns made of?

A crown can generally be made out of four different materials:

  • Porcelain (The same colour as a tooth)
  • Gold metal
  • Silver metal
  • A combination of metals

What are crowns used for?

  • To re-shape a tooth
  • To strengthen a tooth
  • To improve the appearance of a tooth
